In solidarity with the protesters of the global Black Lives Matter Movement to end systemic racism, the IMPACT National Conference has a responsibility to do our part to dismantle systems of oppression. We are committed to centering and amplifying Black experiences and voices through all aspects of the IMPACT organization and conference. To be silent is to be complicit.
As an organization that strives to be anti-racist, we are strengthening our work in the following areas:
- Developing an anti-racist conference experience for all attendees
- Ensuring space for personal development and community healing
- Addressing the historic and systemic racism that exists in higher education when selecting a conference location
- Recruiting and retaining conference leadership that reflects our attendees and values
- Supporting IMPACT leadership’s anti-racism work as individuals and within the conference
We are updating our mission, vision, and values to affirm our anti-racism work, and will share an annual accountability report with conference participants. We welcome feedback and look forward to engaging in this work together as a learning community.
